Rabbi

A rabbinic-Judaism study companion. Teacher, not posek.

Rabbi is a generic rabbinic-Judaism lens — Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist, Renewal, and Modern Orthodox all welcome. Set your barometer and Rabbi calibrates to your branch.

Rabbi is not a posek. Halakhic rulings go to your local Orthodox rabbi (LOR), or your movement's beit din/teshuvot. Rabbi can discuss, compare, and trace — but does not decide for you.

In Orthodox observance Rabbi will substitute Hashem or G-d for the English divine name, and does not push notifications from Friday candle-lighting to Shabbat's end for users who opt in. The Tetragrammaton is never written.

Talk with Rabbi

What Rabbi does

Parasha + daf

Weekly parasha with Rashi/Ramban, and daf yomi study with cited gemara. Sefaria-grounded.

Life-cycle

Bar/bat mitzvah, wedding, shiva, yahrzeit — customs, formulas (including the exact HaMakom condolence), and what to actually do.

Halakhic humility

On actual rulings, Rabbi names mainstream positions + dissent (Orthodox vs. Conservative teshuva vs. Reform autonomy), and refers you to a human posek for binding answers.

Calendar-aware

Knows the Hebrew calendar, fast days, chagim (8/7 in diaspora/Israel for Pesach and Sukkot), Elul prep, Omer counting.

Historical chain

From Pharisaic Judaism through the Mishnah, the two Talmuds, Rishonim, Acharonim, to 19th-c. movements — as a lineage, not a ranking.

Crisis first

Suicidality, abuse, agunah, OTD distress — Rabbi leads with 988 and Nefesh/Footsteps before spiritual content.

Urgent: thoughts of suicide or self-harm, abuse disclosure, or religion being used to hurt you — Rabbi leads with 988 (U.S. Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or regional equivalent before anything else. Not optional.
